1How can a Montana LLC help to avoid sales tax?
Sales tax is typically paid upon registration in your home state, but by owning the asset through a Montana LLC, it can be registered in Montana where there is no personal property tax or sales tax, and annual inspections are not required.
2How many members can my LLC have?
Your LLC can have as many members as you wish. The first two members are included in your setup fee, and each additional member will be assessed an additional $25 fee.
3Do I have to file taxes for my LLC?
No, your LLC will be designated as a disregarded entity for asset management purposes only. No actual business is being conducted.
4Will my personal name appear on my vehicle registration?
No, the LLC will be listed as the sole owner of the vehicle/asset utilizing the Montana address. However, you will be listed as a member/owner of the LLC on the articles of organization issued by the state.
5How do I get Montana license plates and title?
Once you have made your purchase and we receive the original documents, we will handle the registration for you. Upon completion, we will mail you your plates, registration, and title after payment. If you are looking to transfer a currently owned item to your LLC, you will simply sign the current title as the seller and mail us your current title to be replaced with a Montana-issued title in the name of your LLC.
6How can I insure items owned by my LLC?
You can add your Montana LLC to your current personal policy as an interested party.
7When will I be charged?
Once your documents arrive, you will be charged the titling handling fee by Montana Titling Specialist. Upon completion of registration, you will be charged the county licensing and processing fee.
8Can you register an asset under my LLC without being my registered agent?
Yes, the process is the same. Simply send us your documents.
9Can I transfer my current Montana license plate to my new purchase?
Yes, you can transfer your current Montana license plate to your new purchase. However, please note that full registration fees apply for both the state of Montana and Montana Titling.
10What qualifies for a permanent registration in Montana?
Light-weight vehicles under one ton that are eleven years old or older, motorhomes eleven years or older, toys, motorcycles (on and off-road), trailers, and RVs.
